• hello friends..

welcome to my personal blog - things i like - music, photos, architecture, design, & words - from my brain (and other people's brains).. all images here are taken by me (some awesome wedding pics from Alyda too), unless highfives are very gladly given to the author of some things i wish i had made/created/recorded/thought of/seen..

ps.. I'm a wedding photographer.. so if you're planning to marry your lover, & you like what you see/feel here, you should contact us very soon.. we take limited bookings for wedding photography each year & we book out early.. (& i'm not just saying that to make you call us) :]

here's a movie we made to introduce our little friends to the world.. ---->

rachel + simon.. Jimbour House party!

Well, what can I say?  Sometimes, everything – and I mean everything – falls into place..

We caught up with Rachel & Simon the day before their wedding as they were setting up, in the rain.. Like the “Hi everyone, I’m the solid rain that will be staying here all week – hope you don’t mind.” kind of rain..  I mapped out my Plan ‘A’, Plan ‘B’, and even Plan ‘C’ for photos thinking we’d probably need parts of all three at some stage throughout Rachel & Simon’s wedding..  I managed to fax off an request for some clear skies just before ‘close of business’ that day for what it was worth, but to the question of whether rain would feature heavily in Rachel & Simon’s largely outdoor wedding, I could feel all the Magic 8 Balls in the world answering firmly with “All signs point to yes.”

It seems my fax made it into some powerful hands, along with about 150 other faxes requesting the same clear skies.. Yes, it rained on Rachel & Simon’s wedding day, but zero rain fell on the stunning grounds of Jimbour House until the everyone had well moved into the safety of the aircraft hanger for an amazing party..

And with some crazy storms in the area all day long came the amazingly dramatic cloud formations & beautiful golden light.. It was heavenly..  So piece that together with Rachel & Simon (awesome humans), some excellent guests, Jimbour House, amazing event styling, & a swing band..  well… you get the idea..

We made some photos.. That’s why Alyda & I were there :)

HUGE thank you to Rachel & Simon for having us, and to Redbull for helping us get home from Dalby that night..  And to Polkadot Bride for featuring this wedding as well.. Head over here for more photos & info direct from Rachel & Simon.. do it.

Nell & Steve..

I witnessed, and counted 3745 hugs at Nell & Steve’s wedding, and I was personally involved in 37 of those..

Right from the start, I just gave in & let myself be taken (gladly), by the tsunami of love that this wedding caused.. It was cataclysmic!  Such an amazing feeling all day long – Nell & Steve (and their son Boston), celebrating their family & their relationship with their closest buddies, and it was really really really nice.

Aaaaand, there is simply no better place to celebrate for these guys than Midginbil Hill.. It was perfect.. Convoys of four-wheel drives ferrying everyone up to “the tree”, and back down again for an excellent picnic.. No guidelines, no time limits, no noise restrictions, lots of chickens, a running creek, wild freshly picked field mushrooms for breakfast.. Everything smelt like a campfire..  it.was.soooooo.good!

BIGtime thanks to Nell & Steve for choosing us, and to my co-pilot Alyda McGaw :)

ange + dave..

Dave & Ange’s wedding – the Dave & Ange way.. the way of the Ange & Dave..

This is how you do it.. Do what you love, invite the people you love, eat the food you love, drink the wine you love..  If you don’t need a wedding cake, don’t have a wedding cake.. Hold your Melbourne wedding ceremony in the Establishment Studios, & get married in front of a big wall of chairs, then share an amazing dinner with your closest humans in a private dining room at Quaff - because you like it – there’s doesn’t have to be any more reason than that..

Their wedding was perfect.. It was them.

It was an absolute honour to be a part of your wedding Ange & Dave.. Thank you for choosing us.

Love from Todd & Lades :)

the putter-togetherer of scissors..

If you’re going to be the guy that assembles scissors by hand, be the best dang putter-togetherer of scissors that you can be…

even on Mondays..

in winter..

An amazing little film by Shaun Bloodworth..  It just really hit me…  right in the heart..  One thing is for sure, when this guy plays “Paper Scissors Rock”, I bet he goes “Scissors” every time… and every single time, he wins :)

mercedes + patrick.. southern highlands

An open letter to all humans of the modern Earthworld..

Dear excellent humans,

You know what really matters in this life?.. Relationships.. Relationships that are real & deep.. Please – whatever you do – please please please do not be afraid to show your real unguarded self – your real feelings – to the people that matter to you.. I’m not saying it’s an easy road, but it’s definitely a road you will not regret taking..

Love from Todd.

Believe me I know.. I get to see (and feel), the warmth of real relationships all the time & it feels amazing.. And, at this time, I present to you “Exhibit A”..  Mercedes & Patrick’s wedding..  A prime example of two families & a bunch of close friends with such a collectively deep connection, that to just physically be around them all meant that on occasion, you couldn’t help but be moved to tears..  Either that, or there was a lot of dust (& probably some iron filings), in the air all day ;)

I won’t go on all day about how amazing Mercedes & Patrick are, you can have a look through the photos & get to know them for yourselves..

M & P were married in the southern highlands of New South Wales at Summerlees Estate.. It’s a pretty amazing venue if you’re looking for a super relaxing & visually stunning place to host an event.. Other standouts (if you’re planning your own wedding), are Merc’s amazing wedding dress by Anaeccia, and Patrick’s super slick custom made suit by The Cloakroom..

(ps.. BIGtime thanks to Mercedes & Patrick for choosing us, and to Modern Weddings blog for featuring M&P’s wedding as well.. head over there for Part 1 and Part 2 of their extravaganza – there’s plenty more yummy details & styling wins for your eyeballs to feast on.)

Mega thanks to my co-pilot Alyda McGaw for catching lots of great photos, and reasoning with some cranky pregnant dairy cows ;)
