misty mountain hop.. [ the story of amy + dan]

In our pre-wedding meeting.. Todd: “So Amy & Dan, have you thought about the possibility of rain & what you’ll do for the ceremony if there’s water falling out of the sky?”..  Amy: “There’s an under-cover area nearby, but as long as my uncles can find somewhere to play mahjong, everything will be fine.”..  *insert big smiles*

Well rain it did for Amy & Dan’s wedding..  all.day.  The awesome thing was that the wedding was on Mt Tamborine at Songbirds Rainforest Retreat & the whole top of the mountain was covered in thick mist..  The rain stopped & started & stopped & started & we spent the day taking cover & dancing around in the mist..  didn’t see any gorillas though *sorry*..  The ceremony was magic.. Tears a plenty as Amy appeared, & Dan wasn’t holding back.. A&D have a very obvious & deep connection, we love them a lot..

I’m a big believer in risk vs. reward..  In the middle of the damp, during the photo session, I approached A&D.  Todd: “If you guys are keen, we can jump in the car & head up to the lookout for some space & some sweet views.. Only thing is.. when we get out, there’s a fairly good chance we’ll get completely drenched & will have to come straight back.. However, if the rain holds off, you will be rewarded with many great images – but there’s zero guarantee.” Amy & Dan: “let’s do it!”

We drove up to the lookout & DANG!.. completely misted over..  visibility = 1.75 metres.. so we detoured back inland & found a field of joy, grabbed some very quick, very nice pics & headed back..  But as we turned back onto the main road the fog was clearing enough to see where the sun should be.. again.. “So Amy & Dan, completely your call, & we are due back at the reception in 5 mins (reception was 5 mins away), but.. if we hang back a couple of minutes, we might well get some pretty amazing light which will likely yield an 87% probability for awesome images of power for your guys..”  A&D: “yesyesyesyeys! go like the wind!” and so we did..

best man writing his speech.. His notes began with (and I quote), "Secret to writing a good speech is to be: hilariously funny + heart-felt". Definitely on the right track!

crazy bridal parties need only apply..

it's a bird!.. it's a plane!.. no.. it actually is a bird.
