I have recently fallen in love with photography all over again..
it’s called film..
This roll of 120 had been been sitting in my refrigerator since about 2002 I think, & it went out of date July 2004..
While studying photography in 2000, I saved all my student pennies by going out on Thursdays, (Thursday = student night = $1 drinks = BAMM!).. So by having a ‘biggie’ on Thursday instead of Friday and/or Saturday, I thus bought me a Mamiya C330 TLR medium format camera.. A camera mind you, that was very eagerly used by professional photographers in the late 1960′s.. Yes, my camera is about 40 years old – it has no bells or whistles & does not have 7 fancy flashing lights.. my film’s use-by date was 6 years ago – but loading this film, taking a rough light reading, framing, focusing & bracketing the shots to get 1 image is (by today’s standard), very labour intensive.. and I loved every second of it.. It felt refreshing to slow the process down & really think about one image…
Modern weddings are great & I do get addicted to the action & the pace.. there’s so much going on – I shoot quickly & I’m thinking of the next shot even before taking the one right in front of me.. Well not on this day my friends.. I spent time with this chair in the peace & quiet.. I ended up with 3 good frames, & I was well pleased..
I like this image – You may not think it’s ground-breaking or particularly amazing – but to me it’s precious - it represents my reunion with a long lost, & dearly missed friend..
it’s photography that I love..
fridays on foot.. observe.. report..
