bintang schmintang..

we didn’t go to bali to sit on the beach & slug $0.50 beers while wearing bintang tank tops – getting our nails did, & getting massaged by 14 hula girls at the same time is not our bag baby.. as fun as that sounds, we wanted to explore what we thought the real bali might be like.. we stumbled onto Gusti, a local taxi driver & spent a whole day driving around the hills of Bali.. It was sooooo great to get the perspective of a local.. As well as seeing amazing landscapes  we saw a another completely beautiful side of Bali – we spent all day picking Gusti’s brain about Bali life, family life – his life..

Gusti & his wife have one young son.. They’re thinking maybe they might only have one child so they can afford to give him a really good education.. He washes & polishes his taxi every day.. it was the cleanest taxi in the world..  T: “so Gusti, how did you learn english so well?”, G: “by driving a taxi.”, T: “cooool.”

Kyle Doesn’t that make you want to help Gusti? It kills me not to be able to pay for an education for every family that wants it for their children. I think that’s the hardest thing about traveling to lower income nations.
