• hello friends..

welcome to my personal blog - things i like - music, photos, architecture, design, & words - from my brain (and other people's brains).. all images here are taken by me (some awesome wedding pics from Alyda too), unless highfives are very gladly given to the author of some things i wish i had made/created/recorded/thought of/seen..

ps.. I'm a wedding photographer.. so if you're planning to marry your lover, & you like what you see/feel here, you should contact us very soon.. we take limited bookings for wedding photography each year & we book out early.. (& i'm not just saying that to make you call us) :]

here's a movie we made to introduce our little friends to the world.. ---->

ange + dave..

Dave & Ange’s wedding – the Dave & Ange way.. the way of the Ange & Dave..

This is how you do it.. Do what you love, invite the people you love, eat the food you love, drink the wine you love..  If you don’t need a wedding cake, don’t have a wedding cake.. Hold your Melbourne wedding ceremony in the Establishment Studios, & get married in front of a big wall of chairs, then share an amazing dinner with your closest humans in a private dining room at Quaff - because you like it – there’s doesn’t have to be any more reason than that..

Their wedding was perfect.. It was them.

It was an absolute honour to be a part of your wedding Ange & Dave.. Thank you for choosing us.

Love from Todd & Lades :)

the putter-togetherer of scissors..

If you’re going to be the guy that assembles scissors by hand, be the best dang putter-togetherer of scissors that you can be…

even on Mondays..

in winter..

An amazing little film by Shaun Bloodworth..  It just really hit me…  right in the heart..  One thing is for sure, when this guy plays “Paper Scissors Rock”, I bet he goes “Scissors” every time… and every single time, he wins :)

mercedes + patrick.. southern highlands

An open letter to all humans of the modern Earthworld..

Dear excellent humans,

You know what really matters in this life?.. Relationships.. Relationships that are real & deep.. Please – whatever you do – please please please do not be afraid to show your real unguarded self – your real feelings – to the people that matter to you.. I’m not saying it’s an easy road, but it’s definitely a road you will not regret taking..

Love from Todd.

Believe me I know.. I get to see (and feel), the warmth of real relationships all the time & it feels amazing.. And, at this time, I present to you “Exhibit A”..  Mercedes & Patrick’s wedding..  A prime example of two families & a bunch of close friends with such a collectively deep connection, that to just physically be around them all meant that on occasion, you couldn’t help but be moved to tears..  Either that, or there was a lot of dust (& probably some iron filings), in the air all day ;)

I won’t go on all day about how amazing Mercedes & Patrick are, you can have a look through the photos & get to know them for yourselves..

M & P were married in the southern highlands of New South Wales at Summerlees Estate.. It’s a pretty amazing venue if you’re looking for a super relaxing & visually stunning place to host an event.. Other standouts (if you’re planning your own wedding), are Merc’s amazing wedding dress by Anaeccia, and Patrick’s super slick custom made suit by The Cloakroom..

(ps.. BIGtime thanks to Mercedes & Patrick for choosing us, and to Modern Weddings blog for featuring M&P’s wedding as well.. head over there for Part 1 and Part 2 of their extravaganza – there’s plenty more yummy details & styling wins for your eyeballs to feast on.)

Mega thanks to my co-pilot Alyda McGaw for catching lots of great photos, and reasoning with some cranky pregnant dairy cows ;)

elana + marty’s engagement wedding bombshell..

it began at dawn.. just the two of them – first light on the first day of spring..  a quiet moment..  it.was.perfect.

finding elana & marty an amazing mountain top over looking country valleys and the bay was the easy part.. If you think organising a wedding is a lot of hard work, you’d be absolutely right.. but planning it all in secret so you can drop a super-wedding-bombshell on your guests while at your engagement party?  well that’s quite a task, & i reckon some moments of quiet before ‘game time’ is a pretty good idea :)

elana & marty are loved by many, you can see that in their engagement/wedding photos.. and i know exactly why they are loved – they are super nice genuine people that have joy in their hearts..  when you’re near them, you feel their happiness & makes you happy – it’s that simple.

to be part of this wedding/engagement (aka. wengagement) celebration was pretty amazing.. we knew about it obviously.. but recording it knowing almost every person there had no idea what was about to happen & watching elana & marty orchestrate their plan in the zone – it was pretty special..  check it out why don’t cha!  ^_^

ps.. here’s some more excellent linkypants for you —-> elana & marty’s wengagement is featured on hello may wedding style blog, and you should check out elana’s website, she’s a photographer too!  and a big time thanks to alyda mcgawesome for co-piloting on this one.

lizzie & rob’s wedding festival..

well..     ready yourself people..

every 100 weddings or so, a job comes along like no other..

think of anything that can be generally seen as inconvenient, or potentially a ‘problem’ on a wedding day & write them down in a big list –  1). a wedding on a vacant patch of land kind of in the middle of nowhere..  2). no electricity/running water/mobile phone signal,  3). outdoor everything with monsoonal rain most of the day..   4). a LOT of mud..   5). etc etc..

take everything on that list and add it to the list that will normally be the things that make a wedding convenient, easy, & awesome.. it is now impossible for your wedding to not be amazing..  embrace the unpredictable & ye shall be rewarded!

lizzie & rob are two very special people.. they are 100% true to themselves & they know what’s important in life – relationships..  For me, they are the perfect clients in so many ways, and i’m pretty sure if you looked up the definition of ‘awesome‘, there’d be a photo of them being awesome without even knowing how awesome they are..  underneath that photo, it’d say, “see also ‘perfect client‘..”  I just love these guys so hard..

lizzie & rob are also very talented photographers themselves so check out their skillz at solaris photography.. aaaaand their wedding is also featured on the UK super blog, Rock’n’Roll Bride.. Have a look over there for more photos & some sweet information about their DIY domination.

highfives to my second shooter for this extravaganza emma holcroft, who spent the day in a bunnings poncho  :)
