• hello friends..

welcome to my personal blog - things i like - music, photos, architecture, design, & words - from my brain (and other people's brains).. all images here are taken by me (some awesome wedding pics from Alyda too), unless highfives are very gladly given to the author of some things i wish i had made/created/recorded/thought of/seen..

ps.. I'm a wedding photographer.. so if you're planning to marry your lover, & you like what you see/feel here, you should contact us very soon.. we take limited bookings for wedding photography each year & we book out early.. (& i'm not just saying that to make you call us) :]

here's a movie we made to introduce our little friends to the world.. ---->

winter fashion editorial for RANT clothing..

A fashion designer that sticks to her guns and produces her entire fashion label locally – like actually design/pattern/make/build/sew everything right here in Australia.. Super high quality.. All natural fabrics..  respec..

I’ve been shooting for Sarah for the last 6 years.. In that time we’ve become great friends & photographing her collections has become one the super dooper favourite things about my job..  Phone calls, secret pinterest boards, location scouting – it’s safe to say we’re both pretty dang excited about each shoot as it approaches.. and being on set with Sarah & Jay (her husband/producer) is an absolute blast!  Very “un-fashion-y” in a lot of ways, & I always finish the shoot with a sore face from laughing..

Collaborations like this.. It’s what life is about.

ps.. if you’re looking for some awesome threads to warm you this winter, layer up with these gems from RANT Clothing – available now.. as we speak..  you can buy them here, or here.. (hats & batteries not included).

Jillian & gavin.. misty mountains of spicers peak lodge..

Captivating..

That’s what Jillian & Gavin’s wedding was.. Describing an event like this in one word will always be difficult, but when you mix all of the ingredients that Jillian & Gavin pulled together, and add all the unique details made by Jillian herself, everything just fit so perfectly – even something as uncontrollable as the weather, was perfect for this day..

Spicers Peak Lodge is a pretty amazing venue – a perfect scene for J&G.. add to that the loveliest wedding gown by Suzanne Harward, totally a-MAZ-ing floral arrangements (including a continuous 16 metre banquet table runner of floral ecstasy), by Green & Bloom, & a list of perfecto details so long it would take about 9 days to tell you about them… so yeah it was good ;)

Thank you for choosing me Jilly & Gav.. thank you many times indeed..

J&G’s wedding is also featured on The Lane super wedding style blog, so head over there now to see more pictures & hear from Jillian herself about her story.. Jillian even made a custom recipe book for all her guests called “All you Knead is Love”..  do it.

Lisa & Mitch:   “Hey all of our our close friends & family, why don’t we all take a drive out into the countryside & have super relaxed weekend & have a massive party on Saturday in Coronation Hall.. Oh yeah, & we’ll get married while we’re there as well..”

anna & brendan.. mountain goat madness in Melbourne

Let’s just assume for a moment that you’re planning a wedding.. Say it’s your own wedding.. I would highly recommend taking a good long look at the wedding of these here my clients.. Let’s call them Anna & Brendan – that’s what their names are..

Anna & Brendan are prime examples of how to hold what is traditionally a very important (and nerve-wracking) ceremony to officially announce to the world that you & your partner are, in every way possible, choosing each other over all other humans for the rest of your lives.. I’m not saying that love & weddings are not a big deal – they’re a MASSIVE deal, and should be treated as such..  I just believe that it’s ok to be yourselves during said ceremony..  It’s ok to look around at the people there with you, it’s ok to snort-laugh, kiss before “the kiss”, high-five, whatever – it’s your ceremony so be yourself.. Yes, it’s official..  Yes it’s legal..  But guys, please don’t take yourselves, or life too seriously..  You’ll be happier people, probably live longer, & have much less chance of getting cancer, you’ll sleep better, you’ll be better at sexing each other, and all your wildest dreams might just come true..

Do what Anna & Brendan do.. LET GO.. and perform the best damn choreographed routine to Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” i’ve ever seen in my whole life, & give it everything you got!

Anna & Brendan.. We salute you!

go on.. press play..

rachel + simon.. Jimbour House party!

Well, what can I say?  Sometimes, everything – and I mean everything – falls into place..

We caught up with Rachel & Simon the day before their wedding as they were setting up, in the rain.. Like the “Hi everyone, I’m the solid rain that will be staying here all week – hope you don’t mind.” kind of rain..  I mapped out my Plan ‘A’, Plan ‘B’, and even Plan ‘C’ for photos thinking we’d probably need parts of all three at some stage throughout Rachel & Simon’s wedding..  I managed to fax off an request for some clear skies just before ‘close of business’ that day for what it was worth, but to the question of whether rain would feature heavily in Rachel & Simon’s largely outdoor wedding, I could feel all the Magic 8 Balls in the world answering firmly with “All signs point to yes.”

It seems my fax made it into some powerful hands, along with about 150 other faxes requesting the same clear skies.. Yes, it rained on Rachel & Simon’s wedding day, but zero rain fell on the stunning grounds of Jimbour House until the everyone had well moved into the safety of the aircraft hanger for an amazing party..

And with some crazy storms in the area all day long came the amazingly dramatic cloud formations & beautiful golden light.. It was heavenly..  So piece that together with Rachel & Simon (awesome humans), some excellent guests, Jimbour House, amazing event styling, & a swing band..  well… you get the idea..

We made some photos.. That’s why Alyda & I were there :)

HUGE thank you to Rachel & Simon for having us, and to Redbull for helping us get home from Dalby that night..  And to Polkadot Bride for featuring this wedding as well.. Head over here for more photos & info direct from Rachel & Simon.. do it.
